City Plumbing appoints Dominic Sarkar as Commercial Director

Dominic Sakar

Award winning plumbing and heating merchant, City Plumbing hires distribution and merchant specialist to further drive innovation and supplier partnerships

City Plumbing has welcomed Dominic Sarkar as its Commercial Director. Sarkar brings over 20 years of experience in product and category management, the last seven of which were within the merchant sector.

As Commercial Director, Sarkar will be instrumental in maintaining strong supplier relationships for the UK’s leading plumbing and heating merchant, with a focus on unlocking the best possible value and benefits for its customers. Sarkar also aims to continue the drive forward for new product development and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Commercial team, working closely with sales and trading colleagues.

Speaking of his appointment, Sarkar said: “What attracted me to this role is City Plumbing, and the wider Highbourne Group’s desire to never stand still. I share that passion to excel and be future-thinking and there’s huge potential to build on the company’s already strong foundations.

“What’s unique about the business is that its ambition is also combined with a focus on people – customers, colleagues and supplier partners – and I’ve witnessed first-hand the personable and approachable culture of the business as I’ve started my role. There’s a true desire to work together for the good of the customer.”

Sarkar and his team will strategically prioritise meeting the ever-changing needs of customers to offer more value and greater efficiency for the cost and time-pressured plumbing and heating market. Sarkar also joins City Plumbing at a critical moment for energy efficiency following a rise in the UK-wide Energy Cap at the start of January and the Consultation period for the Future Homes and Buildings Standards live until March 2024.

“One of my key priorities will also be to support further growth of our well-established Renewables division and help our customers, and theirs, to navigate the changing landscape of lower-temperature heating systems, and embrace the potential this brings.”

Commenting on Dominic’s appointment, Adam Foy, Chief Commercial Officer, at City Plumbing, said: “Dominic joining is a real coup for our business as he brings a wealth of experience and shares our mindset on the importance of innovation and customer-first thinking. He too is a huge champion for inclusivity and working as one team – a core value of City Plumbing.”
